Stolen

In college there are consistent rumors of students doing stupid things, but how stupid can they get? Granted, most of the time stupid things occur while intoxicated, which almost makes the situations even funnier.

Story 1

A couple of college boys were bored on the weekend. They already drank a bit so what else is there to do? They could go to a party or go hangout in a dorm. But that's boring in college, people need to find other things to do. So what did they end up doing??

STEALING A FUCKING STOP SIGN!!

If this story is true, what goes through your head when you do that? It's illegal and could cause a car accident. According to the story, these two guys ended up getting caught by the cops resulting in being arrested and getting a court summons. What happens next? Who knows...

Story 2

This story is about stealing a shopping cart. Like in the other story, a group of college boys decided to steal a shopping cart form a grocery store. They decided to store it in one of their dorm rooms, but little did they know this was illegal. This was discovered when the boy's parents came to visit, saw it in his room, and yelled at him for stealing something and basically committing a crime. Unlike the story 1, the boys didn't get caught by the police.

Between these stories technology comes into play by deciding to post their escapades on Facebook. This results in massive amounts of people learning about crimes they have committed within seconds. Once you post something on Facebook, it is public and once people read it, you can't just take it back.

Why do people do this kinds of things? Do people actually do these kinds of things? Is this...

Sexiled

Definition: Getting kicked out of your dorm room so that your roommate can hook up with someone alone in the room.

There have been rumors of this kind of thing happening all of the time in college but are they true...

Signs

There are multiple ways of signaling a roommate that they either need to leave the room or not come back for awhile. One way is rumored to be putting a sock or scrunchie on the door, which tells the roommate that walking in at that moment is not the best idea. Sometimes roommates have decided to text each other asking for the room or to tell them that the room is currently occupied. In some cases, people will be really obvious about it and just write on the whiteboard outside the door that they are using the room.

Story Time

There is one particular story that I have heard. This particular room had made an agreement that whenever someone wanted the room there would be a text sent out that would ask for the room at a specific time. However, one day, this plan went horribly horribly wrong.......

One of the roommates had a boyfriend at the time and knew that her roommate had class for the next hour. She decided this would be an opportune moment to spend some alone time with her boyfriend. Due to her roommate being in class, she figured that a text message wasn't necessary...little did she know that she would come to regret that decision.

Her roommate ended up getting out of class over half an hour early, which resulted in the roommate walking on her and the boyfriend a little in the middle of something. I have heard that this situation was extremely awkward and could have been easily avoided if she had just sent a single text message.

The use of cell phones has sometimes been related to people not knowing exactly how to communicate in person. Some might say that this story proves this point because of the interaction between the two girls being rather awkward and the girl with the boyfriend not knowing how to handle a face to fact confrontation correctly. However, without the concept of text messaging, there could have been many other awkward interactions like this one. So is technology good or bad? Maybe it's both.

So sexiling is something that occurs at college, but do these kinds of signs really exist? Do situations like this story really happen? Is this...

Floorcest

Definition: (derived from incest) When one person hooks up with multiple people living on their floor in college.

Sometimes people become infatuated in someone who lives on their floor. Well that seems natural because you see that person around all of the time and have gotten to know them because they live so close. But what happens when you hook up with one person and then go to a second one who lives within 10 feet of the first one?

One story I've heard goes like this.....

A girl (we'll call her Stacy) lived on the 7th floor in a dorm building at college. Stacy met a boy (we'll call him Kevin) on her floor who she was instantly attracted to. Kevin and Stacy would talk when they saw each other, and eventually got to the point of hanging out with each other some nights when they were bored. If you are hanging out with someone alone so many times, something is bound to happen, and did in this case. Stacy and Kevin began hooking up every so often until Stacy started to get infatuated with another boy (we'll call him Damien) on her floor who just happened to be suite mates with Kevin...so the plot thickens...

Now Stacy is hooking up with both Kevin and Damien who live literally 10 feet away from each other. While hooking up with one of them, Stacy would text the other guy. Technology has become so important to the current generation that people can't go ten minutes without it. While hooking up with Kevin, Stacy would keep her options open by texting Damien at the same time. Technology is useful but in this case, can distract you from what is going on right in front of you due to people's strong addiction to technology.

After awhile of hooking up with the two of them, things started to fall through with Kevin. This is where the definition of floorcest becomes important because even though Kevin and Stacy were over, they still had to see each other in passing everyday. Kevin couldn't even look Stacy in the eye which made the floor dynamic a little awkward.

Rumor is Stacy might go back for thirds...

So is floorcest a good thing?? Do people actually do this?? Is this...

Myth or Reality?

Fun Day

This post is going to be slightly different than the others because I'm going to tell you right off the bat that this post is reality. Sometimes some stories are just too good not to tell in full, and this is one of these stories......

So...Fun Day...,

Definition: College day designated for laying on the grass, listening to music, hanging with friends, and getting publicly intoxicated ALL DAY.

Food

There are many different options for food. Some of it was fun food like cotton candy and snow cones with either blue or red syrup. Sounds delicious, I know. However, what everyone wants when lying down outside is barbecued food like hamburgers and hot dogs. No need to worry, they had barbecued food but they didn't have people cooking them who knew how to tell when they are done. This results in a barely warm hot dog with a freezing cold center, which was not appetizing at all. So overall, the food wasn't so great.

Free Stuff

At a certain point in the day, people began crowding around a table where free stuff was getting handed out. This included a pair of sunglasses and a cup. The cup was clearly for alcohol, which I considered odd due to the school providing them. The sunglasses said Fun Day on the sides and came in many different colors like blue, pink, and green. There were also many different kinds of bouncy castles that drunk people could go on. I know....already unstable drunks walking on an unstable surface...makes perfect sense to me!

People

By far the best part of the day was the people. Almost every single person there was carrying some sort of jug with them filled with some sort of alcoholic beverage; lets just say, no one was being super inconspicuous. Many of the people were lying on the grass with their friends just having a good time. other people were listening to bands, jumping around, and dancing. There were also a select few who decided to participate in the Naked Run, which is where people run two laps around campus completely in the nude. All I have to say, is TRAUMATIZING!!!

This day was rather entertaining with people stumbling, falling, and slurring. It was the first time in a long time that people just sat outside all together enjoying life as opposed to sitting indoors on the computer. Sherry Turkle says that people are so absorbed in technology that they don't get to have alone time and just think. Well, Fun Day was one of the closest experiences to being separated from technology.

Although Fun Day was crazy and crowded with drunk people running around, it was one of the most entertaining and fun days I've had at college this year...despite the blistering sunburn :P

Off Campus Parties #2

Based on the previous post, sometimes the party doesn't happen...but if there is a party, sometimes the party is CRAZY!!

This leads to Party #2

This story is basically about how technology can save someone's life...

A group of college students wanted to go out one night to a party, but before they did, they wanted to get drunk. Now, many college students drink on the weekends, but some to a greater extent than others. A few members of this group apparently wanted to get a little more intoxicated than what their body was capable of, but I'll speak more about that later...

This group of girls went to a party after already pre-gaming at their dorm. When they got there, the driveway was completely iced over, which resulted in a couple falls.

one girl down here......
one girl down over there.......

Once in the party, one girl decided to continue to drink to the point where her friends began to get concerned for her safety. (This is where technology came into play) Two of her closest friends, one sober and one not so sober, decided to walk outside of the party in order to call a cab. Through the use of the cell phone, the two girls were able to get a hold of the cab company.

The next challenge was to get the girl outside of the house. This was a huge challenge because this house was completely packed to the point that movement was almost impossible. When the girl's best friend finally got her out of the house, this girl decided to charge back into the house, with her friend attached, because she didn't want to leave. (This is where technology helped again) At this time, the sober friend was trying to distract the cab driver so he doesn't leave. She chose to call another friend inside to tell them that the cab was there and that they needed to get the rather drunk girl out NOW! Eventually, they got the girl out of the house, and while trying to get everyone in the cab, the girls were slipping and sliding on the ice yet again...

Overall, this story ended with everyone getting home safe and sound, but this was greatly due to the technology of a cell phone being so close in hand.

Do this kinds of things really happen at college?? You be the judge. Is this...

Myth or Reality?

Off Campus Parties #1

It's 10 pm on a Friday night. The question at hand is what parties are there and which one do we want to go to? Hmmmmmm....

First thing to do is text everyone to see if they have heard of anything going on. This step is the most important because you have to decide what intel is good. This person could have heard of something going on the same way you are, but not know for sure if anything is happening. When you receive the text that Party A is happening, a couple questions run through your head:

Does this person normally know what's going on?
Who did they hear it from?
Is their intel good?

With texting now being the prominent form of communication, people can't read people as much anymore. So you never know how sure the person actually is because you can't see their face as they are saying it. Texting makes it so impersonal because now you don't have to actually talk or see anyone to find out what's going on. This results in possible relationships not being pursued because people just have to send them a text, but don't have to try actually seeing or talking to them.

Even though texting is so impersonal, people will still get an answer and then decide what they want to do with it. Here is where the possible story comes in...

One night a group of friends got a text saying that something was going on at Party A, but weren't sure if something was actually happening. In order to make sure that this was happening, they asked a few other girls and ended up sharing a cab with them to the party. When they get to the party, the house is dead silent, dark, and empty. By the time the girls realize this, the cab had driven away.

6 girls + dressed up + alone + freezing + in the middle of nowhere =
NOT GOOD!

Eventually one of the more sober girls decided that it would be a good idea to walk towards traffic and continuously attempt to call a cab. I say continuously, because the story goes that the cab company kept hanging up on this group of girls. Apparently, the drunk girls didn't really know what was going on at the time, but the sober girls were focused on getting everyone home safely. Eventually a cab came and all was well with the world...but still that is one heck of a story.

Do these kinds of things happen at college? Is this story...

Myth or Reality?

Clothes Shrine

Everyone has heard the rumor that guys have a secret room or area that they keep items of clothing from each girl that they have hooked up with. These pieces of clothing have been rumored to be items such as underwear and bras. The real question if how do they keep/take the item of clothing without the girl noticing that it's gone. Well boy do I have a story for you...

The Bra Incident

1 girl + 2 guys = 1 bra stolen

The first step in getting an item of clothing taken is to first go to a party where you meet the guy that you are going to hook up with for the night. In order to keep the privacy of the people involved in this rumor, the girl's name will be Jasmine and the two guys will be called Jeff and Brian. In order to accomplish this first step, Jasmine went to a party on the prowl for a good hook up, and sees Jeff who she has wanted to hook up with for a long time. Once their eyes met, Jasmine knew that it was going to be a good night. Just as Jasmine was about to leave the party, Brian started talking to them and ended up leaving with them.

The next step is to find a place to hook up, which can be difficult when living with a roommate. In this case, Jasmine, Brian, and Jeff began roaming the dorms looking for a room that locks. And where do they end up? But a study room of course. Once they found the study room, the door locked, the lights were turned off, and the fun began...

The third step is where the hooking up occurs, which makes this step...
CENSORED!!

Lastly, when the event is winding down, and everyone is getting clothed, one the guy slyly takes a piece of clothing that was taken off at one point or another. In this case, once the guys left, Jasmine had realized that her bra had mysteriously disappeared! The only logical explanation was that one of the guys had taken it but who...

A few weeks later, one of Jasmine's friends had told her that in Jeff's dorm room, attached to the wall, was a black bra that was exactly the same as the one Jasmine had lost weeks before. When Jasmine heard about this, a plan was set in motion to get the bra back. Eventually, Jasmine got her bra back by sneaking into Jeff's room when he wasn't in there.

The real question in this situation is why do guys feel the need to steal girls' clothing?? Could it be for attention? As texting and IMing has been becoming more popular, people have been feeling less attention from other people because of them being more absorbed in their phones. Maybe to gain more attention from friends, these guys take clothing from girls and show it to their friends. It is definitely a possibility...

But does this happen in college?? Is this true?? Is this...

Myth or Reality?
